In February 2010 I started my 5,000 mile charity walk clockwise from Brighton around the entire coastline of mainland Britain. Called "Characters On The Coastline" I hope to raise £100,000 for Alzheimer's Society.
I expect to finish my walk in about 18 months after wearing out five pairs of boots and losing a couple of chins!

Characters on the Coast
As I go round, I stop to meet people who live along the coast. Some are known to the local community, others are known to many of us. Some, but not all of these characters have been affected either directly or indirectly by Alzheimer's or Dementia. I hear their stories and with their permission, I will share them with you at the end of the walk in a book I am writing called "Characters on the Coastline"
As I progress round the coast, I talk on local and national radio about my walk and the characters I meet. I am also very grateful for the additional media interest generated by the local and national press, helping to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and also supporting the fundraising. I will also be taking video footage which will appear on my video blogs and here on BritishCoastGuide.com.
