Thank you for taking the time to look at our (new) website. Whether you are a regular or a possible new customer to the Five Mile, we hope you find the site informative and a true taste of what we have to offer.
The Five Mile House is a Traditional Free House, run by a Father and Son partnership – Jon and Jo Carrier. We have no ties to any breweries or parent companies; we are just running the Pub as we would like to find it. With a little luck, you’ll like it too!
Jon can usually be found in the Bar ensuring the beer is in good condition, whilst generally putting the world to rights with his fellow drinkers. Jo and his team of local lads and lasses run the Kitchen and Restaurant, offering you fresh, quality home made food in a friendly Pub atmosphere.
Should you wish to make a booking, please telephone us on 01285 821432 Unfortunately, we are not able to take bookings by Email
Finally, those of you that know us, will no doubt pass comment on this website in the form of grammar and spelling lessons! However, if there should be anything that we have omitted, please let us know, and we’ll be only to glad to put it right!
Thank you for your interest, we hope to see you soon.
Jon and Jo Carrier

The Anchor Inn is situated in Oldbury on Severn. A very pretty South Gloucestershire village nestling on the original banks of the river. It has a long history dating back to the Iron Age and Roman periods.
The dining room at the Anchor is light and bright with double doors leading out onto the beautiful garden. With elegant country style décor and seating 40, it is extremely popular, so it is always a good idea to ring before you come or call and make a reservation. On Sundays we always offer at least two different roast meat dishes at lunch time.
You can dine informally in the garden – in the summer, lounge and public bar where the menu is the same as in the dining room. Although children are most welcome in the dining room and can have great fun playing in the garden, we do like to keep the pub side for adults only.
The bar is everything that you would expect from a traditional country pub…warm and welcoming, cosy and snug. With photos from the past, fishing and farming bric a brac, all reminders of the pubs long history. Well kept traditional beers and a well stocked cellar add to that authentic country pub atmosphere.
